Technorati’s “State of the Blogosphere 2008″ report says that there is a general sense that blogs are being taken more seriously as information sources.
Perceptions of Blogs & Traditional Media

37% of bloggers have been quoted in traditional media based on a blog post. Half of bloggers believe that blogs will be a primary source for news and entertainment in the next five years. Bloggers are less bullish on the prospects for traditional media — one in five bloggers don’t think that newspapers will survive the next ten years.
U.S. bloggers spend almost 3.5 times as long on the Internet as they do watching television.

What do the Top 10% amateur bloggers in revenue have in common?
Technorati’s “State of the Blogosphere 2008″ report says that the top 10 percent of blogger respondents earned an average of $19,000 annually. Three-quarters of these successful bloggers are male, and four in ten are self employed (twice as high as the average blogger). They are also more likely to be professional or corporate bloggers. Overall, the high revenue bloggers are more sophisticated in terms of the tools that they use, their usage of readership events, and advertising platforms. They also invest far more resources (both time and money) in their blogs.
