Become a great iPD

The Interactive Program Director or iPD is a crucial part to any interactive operation. As an iPD you can make or break your web site. Most iPD’s are not only managing one site but in most cases 5-7 sites. At times it can get overwhelming. Here are few things you can do to make your self shine….

  • Take an interest in all stations you manage. Listnen to them and learn about their demo. This will help you produce better content for the sites that may not appeal to your interest.
  • Sit in promotions and sales meeting to learn about up coming station events.
  • Create new content ideas and present them to the sales department.
  • Hold training sessions with on air staff about the web site and how to drive traffic over the air to the web.
  • Monitor sites & streams everyday.
  • Go on calls with sales reps to help them develop new interactive ideas for clients.
  • Set traffic goals for each station and post results for everyone to see.
  • Set impression and click thru goals and share them with sales.
  • Encourage promotions to take video and pictures at every station event and remote.
  • Create YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and MySpace pages to help promote your site.
  • Use RSS feeds to help you create more content on your sites.
  • And last, but not least…..Think outside the box. Come up with new content, new products and new ways to drive traffic.
